Location: Colombo with frequent field visits across Sri Lanka (e.g., Sinharaja, Kanneliya)
Rainforest Protectors of Sri Lanka, a non-profit environmental organization (CEA Reg# 6/6/17/01/146), is dedicated to conserving Sri Lanka’s precious rainforests through activism,
reforestation, and community engagement. We are seeking a motivated Intern/Trainee Field Officer to join our team, gain hands-on conservation experience,
and contribute to protecting Sinharaja and other vital ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in field surveys to monitor biodiversity, threats (e.g., illegal logging), and ecosystem health.
- Support reforestation projects, wildlife corridor initiatives, and river reconnection efforts.
- Engage with local communities and volunteers to promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness.
- Help document environmental violations and prepare reports for collaboration with authorities (e.g., Department of Forest Conservation).
- Collect and organize field data using basic tools (e.g., GPS, spreadsheets).
- Support logistical tasks, such as coordinating volunteer activities and maintaining field equipment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current enrollment in or recent graduate (within 2 years) of a degree/diploma in Environmental Science, Biology, Forestry, Wildlife Conservation, or a related field (recognized by the University Grants Commission, UGC).
- Passion for environmental conservation and eagerness to learn about Sri Lanka’s rainforests.
- Basic communication skills in Sinhala and English (Tamil fluency is a plus).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); basic GIS knowledge is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to work in remote field conditions, including physically demanding tasks and occasional overnight stays.
- Valid driver’s license is a plus but not mandatory.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on fieldwork and alignment with Rainforest Protectors’ volunteer-driven mission.

- Monthly stipend of LKR 25,000 - 50,000.
